On Saturday, April 12, nationally renowned experts from the pediatric cardiovascular program at Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn will host a THIC: A Pediatric Cardiology Education Series. The continuing medical education course is for family medicine physicians, pediatricians, residents and nurses interested in learning about the latest techniques and clinical standards in identifying and treating congenital heart defects. 

Advocate Health Care is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Illinois Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC). This CNE activity has been applied for 3 contact hours.

Key topics from the educational series include:

·        Recognizing the indications for a fetal echocardiogram.

·        Understanding the types of congenital heart defects amenable to transcatheter intervention.

·        Identifying common electrophysiology emergencies in the pediatric patient.

·        Discerning key physical examination techniques and non-invasive cardiac testing findings in a newborn patient.

The series will take place in the auditorium and conference center at Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital at 4440 W. 95^th Street in Oak Lawn, Ill., on Saturday, April 12, from 7:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. A continental breakfast will be served.
